FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Where are the page numbers placed?

Page numbers are placed at the bottom-centre of every page in the format "page X of Y". Top placement and side placement are on the roadmap.

Can I start numbering from a different number?

Custom start numbers, formats, and positions will land in a future update. The current tool starts at 1 and increments per page.

Will it overwrite existing content?

No. Page numbers are placed in the bottom margin so they do not overlap with most document content. If your PDF uses very large bottom margins or pre-existing footers, plan accordingly.

Adding page numbers to a PDF after the fact is a surprisingly common task — when scanning documents, combining sources, or formalizing a draft for distribution. mydearPDF stamps clean page numbers into the page graphics, so the numbers travel with the file and print correctly across any PDF reader.
